PLA

Polylactic Acid(PLA) filament is a renewable, recyclable natural thermoplastic polyester made from corn starch or Sugar cane. Biodegradable under certain circumstances PLA is the most popular 3d Printing material due to lower printing temperatures and ease of use, however, it is not suitable for certain uses due to its permeability and is mainly used for decorative purposes.

ABS

ABS which stands for Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, is a thermoplastic with good heat and impact resistance. ABS is often used in the car manufacturing industry and is used where parts are subject to high mechanical stresses. These can include moving parts, end use tools and other car parts.

ASA

ASA Filament is a type of thermoplastic and the letters stand for Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate. ASA is a Good alternative to ABS where parts will be exposed to lots of sunlight due to its UV resistant properties.

PETG

Raw PET or Polyethylene Terephalate is one of the most widely used plastics in the world, however, is rarely used in 3d printing. The G in PETG stands for Glycol-modified. This makes for clearer, less brittle and easier to use filaments. Prints made from PETG fall between PLA and ABS in terms of material strength while being more flexible than PLA and easier to print than ABS.
